Ad Finders
Ad Finders automatically search for items of interest to you. You create an Ad Finder in much the same way as you perform a search and in fact can save a search as an Ad Finder. You are then notified daily via email of ads posted to the website in the past day that meet your criteria.
- Free Members receive 1 Ad Finder
- Subscribers receive 5 Ad Finders
- Business Subscribers receive 1 Ad Finder
Additional Ad Finders can be purchased using credits at a cost of 1 credit per week per Ad Finder.
Bold Book Ad
In Step 3 of Create an Ad you will have the option of running your ad in Bold in the Printed Edition(s). This will allow the ad to stand out from the other ads and is a requirement for certain categories such as Rentals or Services. Ads with a URL require the Bold feature for the Printed Edition(s). The cost is 1 credit per 2 words to run your ad with this feature. Bold ads are used to indicate Non Private Party ads in our Printed Editions. A final determination of whether Bold is needed is made by our Printed Edition editing staff once the ad is submitted.
This feature is only for ads in either of our Printed Editions.
Credit Info
Credits are used to purchase additional features such as:
- Placing your ad in the Printed Edition(s)
- Adding additional pictures to your ad based on your account
- More than 1 picture for a Free User
- More than 2 pictures for a Regular Subscriber
- More than 3 pictures for a Business Subscriber
- Adding Highlights to your ad
- Placing Ads over your limit based on your account
- Over 5 ads for a Free User
- Over 10 ads for Regular & Business Subscribers
- Adding a URL to your ad (unless you are a Business Subscriber)
- Adding Bold print to your ad
- Purchasing additional Ad Finders
- Over 1 Ad Finder for a Free User
- Over 5 Ad Finders for a Regular Subscriber
- Over 1 Ad Finder for a Business Subscriber
- Purchasing "Premium Ads" (in addition to the 1 free for a Business Subscriber)
- Purchasing additional Instant Ad Finders (excludes Free Users)
Credits cost $0.55 each and can be purchased in increments of 10. Credits can be purchased as part of a subscription of 26 weeks or greater for an additional discount. Credits purchased as part of an Auto Renew will receive a discount as well.
Credits are different than subscriptions and will remain active up to 18 months even if your subscription lapses. Credits will not be refunded for any partial use of a feature.
You do not need a subscription to purchase credits, just click Purchase Subscriptions/Credits from the Main Menu and follow the steps.
Email Addresses
Uncle Henry's does not publish advertiser's email addresses to safeguard against making this information public. You will notice when viewing the Ad Detail, this information is not displayed. If anyone clicks on the link "Email This Person Now" an email will be generated by our system. The sender of this email does not see the email address. Once the original advertiser replies, this is the 1st time the email address is available.
Your email address is used as your login. You can change your email address within your account. Once you have changed your email, you will receive a confirmation email to the new email address you have chosen. You will need to click the link in your email to verify your new email address. Verifying your email address is required for any activity that utilizes your email address such as placing an Ad or Ad Finder.
History Search Book
For Paid Subscribers, the History Search allows access to an electronic archive of ads placed in the Printed Editions for the past six months in addition to the online ads. You are able see all of these ads by performing a History Search for the exact weeks or range of weeks you specify. You can narrow your search results of the History Search by the same features as a normal Search. See Search (Book). All Registered Members have access to History Search, but only the users with a Paid Subscription will be able to view the ads from the Printed Editions.
History Search Online
History Search allows access to an electronic archive of all the ads placed for the past six months. You are able to view these ads by performing a History Search for the exact weeks or range of weeks you specify. You can narrow your search results of the History Search by the same features as a normal Search. See Search (Online). All Registered Members have access to this feature
Instant Ad Finders
Instant Ad Finders function like an Ad Finder except are run throughout the day. You are notified by email, within 30 minutes of the ad being posted to the website. Subscribers receive 1 Instant Ad Finder. Additional Instant Ad Finders can be purchased using credits at a cost of 3 credits per week per Instant Ad Finder.
My Ads
The My Ads page shows all of your active and inactive ads and gives you the ability to create new ads. The My Ads page also:
- Shows the status of your ads (active/inactive)
- Shows the start/end dates for your ads online and in each of the Printed Editions
- Gives you the opportunity to create, edit, rerun, stop and delete your ads.
- Gives you the opportunity to view pictures that you have placed with your ads.
My Notes
This page allows you to save important notes and comments about ads for later review. Ad content can be added here from within the detailed view of an ad. Text can be deleted anytime you choose to do so. Clicking on the "Printer Friendly" button cleans up the view to make it format better for printing.
No Delay When Emailing
E-mails sent by Paid Subscribers of Uncle Henry's have their messages sent with higher priority than messages from Free Members.
Personal Information
Any personal information supplied to Uncle Henry's such as your name, mailing addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers are kept strictly confidential. Your information is never supplied or sold to any 3rd party.
Pictures Included with Ad
Free Members may have 1 picture at no charge with their ad. Additional pictures will be charged 2 credits per ad per week. Free Members may have up to 5 pictures per ad.
Regular Subscribers may have 2 pictures at no charge per ad with a paid subscription. Regular Subscribers may have up to 5 pictures per ad.
Business Subscribers may have 3 pictures at no charge per ad with paid subscription. Business Subscribers may have up to 5 pictures per ad.
The picture chosen as your Primary Picture which will be shown in your Ad Preview and in search results.
The Primary Picture may be added to the Mass Edition at a charge of 5 credits per week per ad placed
Place Online Ad
Any Registered Member may place ads online provided there email address has been verified which prevents ads from being run with no valid contact information.
Free Members may have up to 5 ads online at no charge. Free Members with more than 5 ads will be charged 2 credits per week.
Subscribers may have up to 10 ads online at no charge. Subscribers with more than 10 ads will be charged 2 credits per week.
Premium Ads
Premium Ads are used to promote businesses and are placed within given categories appearing in random order based on searches. These ads appear in every 7th slot within a given category. Premium Ads cost 20 credits per week (minimum of 4 weeks) for Free Members and Regular Subscribers. Business Subscribers receive 1 free Premium Ad per week of their subscription and a discount on additional Premium Ads. Additional Premium Ads can be purchased for 15 credits per week (4 week minimum) for Business Subscribers only. Your website is linkable to your Premium Ad at no additional charge. To create a Premium Ad, select My Premium Ads from within My Account.
Printed Editions
In addition to this website, Uncle Henry's produces two print editions. Each of these Printed Editions comes out weekly with thousands of new ads. These ads are available on the website to paid subscribers. Placing an ad in either Printed Edition enables your ad to reach tens of thousands of readers who might never see it online.
Uncle Henry's covers all of Maine and New Hampshire. It also covers parts of Vermont and Massachusetts.
Uncle Henry's Mass Edition covers Massachusetts. It also covers parts of New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island.
It costs 2 credits per publication per week to place an ad into one of the Printed Editions. With a paid subscription you receive 1 Printed Ad free per week in a Printed Edition of your choosing. For more information about paid subscriptions, click the Purchase Subscriptions/Credits tab on the Main Menu.
During the Create an Ad process you will be asked if you want to place your ad in one or both of the printed editions (Step 3). Just click the checkbox next to one or both of the printed editions. Photos can be placed into the Uncle Henry's Mass Edition for 5 credits per week.
You can have either one or both of the Printed Edition(s) delivered to your home on a weekly basis. For home delivery outside of Maine, please allow up to 14 days for receipt. For home delivery outside the United States, please contact us for more information. To order home delivery for yourself or someone else click Printed Edition on the Main Menu.
Search Book
Paid Subscribers will see all the online ads and those from both Printed Editions when doing a search. You can Search ads online by a variety of available features:
-Category

-Price Range

Spam Protection
Uncle Henry's utilizes a variety of protection methods to guard our users from being solicited by potential spammers. While we offer protection methods to all of our users, some of our more sophisticated measures are reserved for our Paid Subscribers.
